With the recent release of the UPCAT 2025 results, young persons and their family members from distant Mindanao regions have begun to show up at the UP Mindanao Office of the University Registrar for admission.
One such visitor was Ranilo Malong Jr., pictured above, from the Tandag National Science High School. Ranilo was accompanied by his father, Ranilo Sr., and family members. They travelled more than 300 kilometers to facilitate Ranilo’s admission to the UP Mindanao BS Biology program. When asked whether he plans to become a doctor or scientist, his father volunteered the reply, “Scientist siguro.”
Another campus visitor was John Lloyd Pio Jawod, pictured below, from Mlang, North Cotabato, who is waitlisted for the architecture program. He and his mother travelled the approximately 135 km. distance to UP Mindanao. They are hopeful that John Lloyd will be admitted and they proceeded to visit the dormitory for this purpose.
The UP Mindanao Registrar and academic departments can expect this stream of visitors in the coming days and weeks.
Applicants who took the UP College Admission Test 2025 in August 2024 can view their UPCAT 2025 results online on the designated portal. Successful applicants receive Admission Offers in the form of a letter that contains the offer of admission to a UP campus and degree program. The applicant must confirm their acceptance or rejection of the admission offer within the given timeline. Applicants who accept the offer must follow the registration instructions provided by their admitting campus or academic unit.
The UPCAT result and letter may indicate that an applicant is qualified but is placed on a waitlist. UP officials will monitor the acceptance and rejection rates of the qualified students and may offer a spot to waitlisted students if openings become available. In addition, if an applicant does not receive an admission offer, the applicant may still appeal for admission to certain campuses where slots might still be available.
