The UP Mindanao Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) organized Golden Years, Golden Peers, a special event and forum held on June 20, 2025, to celebrate and recognize the continuing service of faculty and staff aged 55 and above. The event brought together both senior and junior personnel in a show of appreciation for the dedication, wisdom, and enduring contributions of long-serving members of the UPMin community.
The day began with a lively aerobics session led by staff from HRDO and the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, emphasizing the importance of physical wellness for all participants. This was followed by welcome remarks from Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Maria Stella Salazar, who underscored the event’s theme: “Honoring Seasoned Professionals with Recognition, Growth, and Connection.”
A highlight of the program was a health lecture by Dr. Kreeshan Dasmariñas, focusing on senior health and well-being. Participants then received free one-on-one medical consultations from invited physicians, guided by baseline health surveys completed earlier in the day.
A special panel featured senior faculty members who shared insights and reflections from their years at UPMin. Speakers included Prof. Larry Digal (School of Management), Prof. Joseph Acosta (Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, or DMPCS), and Asst. Prof. Vicente Calag (DMPCS). Their stories and wisdom offered inspiration and guidance to the younger members of the audience.
Tokens of appreciation were distributed to senior participants by HRDO, with additional wellness gifts provided by event sponsor Young Living, through Brand Partner Ms. Blessie E. Bullecer.
HRDO Chief Lynda Buenaobra expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, saying, “Thank you to all who made Golden Years, Golden Peers a meaningful and fruitful celebration.” She also acknowledged the medical team—Drs. Aisa Francisco-Masacupan, Margarita Alcantara, Elizabeth Pague, Kreeshan Dasmariñas, Luinne Catubigan, and Jeff Carlo Liberato—as well as Lingap Diwa representative Ms. Sheila Andres and Young Living Brand Partner Ms. Blessie E. Bullecer.
