UP Mindanao Architecture Graduates Present Visionary Urban Designs at 2025 Colloquium

Faculty members and students of the UP Mindanao Department of Architecture gave extended rounds of applause as each of the eight graduating students presented their final design projects at the 2025 BS Architecture Colloquium (Architectural Design Track), held on May 20 at the UP Mindanao CARIM Building.

The students’ works, grounded in culturally responsive and future-focused architectural principles, illustrated how architecture can play a pivotal role in elevating the quality of urban life. Their presentations spanned diverse typologies—from public infrastructure to wellness and tourism—highlighting innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Finalists from the BS Architecture program showcased thesis projects that included a museum, public market, office spaces, a transport terminal, tourist resorts, a wellness facility, a public hospital, and a clay pot factory. Each design reflected the students’ diligence, creativity, and vision. Faculty advisers offered constructive feedback after every presentation, underscoring the academic rigor and collaborative spirit of the event.

“These projects promise to spark ideas and conversations that will shape the built environment of tomorrow,” said Asst. Prof. Ryan Songcayauon, Chairperson of the Department of Architecture.
