Ugnayan ng PahinungΓ³d Mindanao, along with its partner units- the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Extension and Community Service, the Office of the University Registrar, and the School of Management- conducted UPCAT Simulation and Career Talks at Marilog National High School, Marilog District, Davao City on April 7, 2025. One Hundred Ninety-Seven (197) Grade 11 Students took part in the UPCAT Simulation that allowed them to experience actual UPCAT arrangements, including filling out the attendance sheet and answer sheet, as well as answering questions under the four subtests of the UPCAT, which cover Language Proficiency, Science, Mathematics, and Reading Comprehension. School of Management Dean Assoc. Prof. Aurelia Luzviminda Gomez served as the examiner during the simulation.

Aside from the simulation, the volunteers also discussed the admission process and requirements and the presentation of UP Mindanao’s different undergraduate degree programs across its three colleges. Additionally, the students were engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session.

Marilog National High School Principal Mr. Marlon Bernados encouraged his students to consider UP as a stepping stone for their careers. He elaborated on how UP education can help students from underserved and underprivileged communities. (View more photos here)

On April 3, 2025, the Ugnayan ng PahinungΓ³d Mindanao visited Optaciano Hilay National High School (Jeana M. Mequiabas, school administrator) in Brgy. Manambulan, Davao City, for the Affirmative Action Program- UPCAT Campaign 2026. The first part of the campaign was the UPCAT simulation, where 50 students experienced the actual UPCAT arrangements, including filling out the attendance sheet and answer sheet, as well as answering questions under the four subtests of the UPCAT. Asst. Prof. Rodgessa Lopez, a faculty volunteer from the School of Management, was the examiner during the simulation. Meanwhile, the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) Staff Methus Elisan served as the proctor.

The afternoon activity featured presentations on the UPCAT application process and requirements and the various undergraduate degree programs at UP, with a particular focus on the offerings of UP Mindanao across its three colleges: the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Science and Mathematics, and the School of Management.
