UPMin personnel practice safety measures in 2Q National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
Personnel at the Administration Building evacuation site
UP Mindanao personnel actively participated in the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill held on June 19, 2025, demonstrating adherence to disaster risk reduction and emergency response protocols.
With no students on campus due to the end of classes, non-teaching staff and unit heads took part in the drill. At exactly 9:00 a.m., participants assumed the “duck, cover, and hold” position upon hearing the first siren. They then proceeded to evacuate in an orderly manner, pausing beside sturdy structures at the sound of the second siren, which simulated aftershocks.
At the designated evacuation sites, each unit conducted a headcount of personnel while assigned teams carried out rapid structural assessments.
Following the inspections, Incident Command System (ICS) officers declared an “all-clear” and instructed personnel to return to their respective offices. The entire exercise was efficiently completed in approximately five minutes.
